What is Camp Hawkins:
Camp Hawkins, is a ministry of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, Inc., is a summer camp program designed to meet the needs of children with developmental disabilities. Children from ages 8-21 spend five days at camp experiencing all the typical summer camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, Bible study, arts & crafts and sports & recreation. There is a one-to-one ration of staff to camper, so each child will get the maximum experience while at camp. Camp Hawkins is hosted each summer for 6 weeks in Mt. Airy GA and simultaneously for 3 weeks in Baxley, GA. Each camp serves between 20-24 campers each week.
The Wayne County Cruisers was blessed to be able to help “Camp Hawkins” in Baxley, Ga. Raise the money that was needed to purchase and have instilled the new playground equipment for their new playground. The playground is equipped with special equipment for children with special needs who visit the camp each year. The Wayne County Cruisers look forward to helping them for years to come through our events.
